Llamalopolis Village
Created by Tony Hsieh, Llamalopolis Village is a tiny house on wheels and Airstream village located in downtown Las Vegas in the Fremont East District. Many of Las Vegas’ locals just call Llamalopolis Village the “Airstream Park.”
Tony created his tiny house village with a total of 33 Tumbleweed Tiny Homes and Airstream houses. He was inspired to turn the local old RV park into a tiny house village that the entire Las Vegas community could enjoy together.
As he began creating his tiny house village, Tony incorporated many eclectic aesthetic elements into the scene. You enter Llamalopolis through a llama decorated gate, which is how the village got its name. The village has many other attractive oddities like a tunnel full of twinkling lights which opens into a communal living room, an alpaca pin, and a stage for shared talent shows and community concerts.
The community is enclosed by five-foot concrete walls. Residents also share community facilities like a kitchen, laundry room, and indoor office/lounge space. Llamalopolis has recently created a goal of achieving net zero energy and other sustainable living habits.
Dancing River Community
The Dancing River Community is an intentional living community that is currently made up of 11 adults and two children. Each home features solar assisted radiant heat, super insulation, a large loft area supported with tree trunks, passive solar design, operable skylights for passive cooling, and a metal roof.
This intentional living community also includes a common house which includes four rooms. The largest one is a multipurpose room used for dance, yoga, class room, community functions, and indoor events. The lounge includes a library, mail center, and entertainment area. The guest room is in the southwest corner next to the wheel chair accessible bathroom with a shower.

Nevada is highly welcoming towards tiny houses, but individuals must abide by local regulations. In February of 2021, the State of Nevada issued Ordinance SB150-N Act which required the governing body of a city or county to authorize tiny houses in certain zoning districts. Basically, the ordinance gave power to the cities.
Are Tiny Houses On Wheels Legal In Nevada?
In Nevada, tiny houses on wheels are classified as recreational vehicles by the State. This means that in order for your tiny house on wheels to be allowed, it has to follow RV laws for the state of Nevada.
Nevada laws define a recreational vehicle, travel trailer, or camping vehicle as a vehicle which the overall length does not exceed 32 feet and whose body width does not exceed 8 feet, a pickup camper or similar vehicular dwelling used for travel, vacation or recreational purposes; occupied in any one place for 30 days or less.
This may seem disappointing for those in Nevada who want to live full time in their tiny home on wheels, but there are some workarounds to this restriction, especially in the more rural areas of Nevada. Talk to your local jurisdiction by phone or email to get information on exactly what’s allowed.
Additionally, all tiny homes on wheels must obtain a permit. All sanitary requirements must be followed, but the health authority may waive deficiencies in existing structures. Any construction or major alterations must comply fully with NAC 444.5461 to 444.54675, inclusive, regarding construction or alteration.
Are Tiny Houses On Foundation Legal In Nevada?
There isn’t a statewide law for tiny houses on foundation, and Nevada has yet to adopt Appendix Q for tiny houses. Typically, in Nevada, most areas will issue a building permit provided the tiny house has at least 200 square feet of living space.
Besides this, tiny houses should abide by traditional housing laws for the State of Nevada. The best way to know if something is specifically legal when building your tiny house is to contact your local jurisdiction.
