Tiny House, Tiny Living, The Tiny Life.

What I Know & What I Hope

I’m writing from Portland today, still here after an amazing time at the Tiny House Conference that happened about a week ago. On Saturday I went to brunch with Laura and Matt LaVoie, where we were chatting about the amazing opportunities we experienced because of our choice to live tiny.

It struck me how lucky we were, to be sitting around a table on an extended vacation sharing a meal with friends. I all of a sudden said “what a gift” and began to share this gratitude with Matt and Laura, and we all took a beat to reflect on this gift we have been afforded.

So today I wanted to share what I know about you and what I hope for you.

I Know…

The Tiny Life is a life that anyone can achieve with enough perseverance.

I know YOU can persevere through the doubt, the fear, the questions, and the hard days.

I know the life you can achieve will inspire you, drive you, and open doors.

I know you will value relationships over money, but you’ll have both in abundance.

I know you’ll be empowered when you realize (or realized) the truth: this is MY life.

I Hope…

I hope all you reading this have that moment when you say “I’m going for it”.

I hope that you appreciate what you have right now and fight hard for what you want in the future.

I hope you build a life that inspires you and others; one that others only dream of.

I hope you get to sit around a table with friends and say “what a gift.”

  1. Great post Ryan! Although, I am not quite to the point where I can take extended vacations on a regular basis (I am working on it!), I am certainly making this life my own. I am grateful for the new path I am on and the dream life I am creating. Thanks for reminding me to slow down and appreciate it again tonight.

    • The greatest determining factor: action. I know you’ve taken those first few steps (and many more after that). Keep at it!

  2. Cheers to that! 😀

  3. Ryan – Thank you for sharing this. It was an amazing time and an amazing gift. We are fortunate. And we are fortunate to make such amazing connections on this path, including you.

See you again in North Carolina!

  4. I Hope…

The secret to freedom, inner joy and living life to the fullest is truly being simple and downsizing to the most basics. It’s only then when we have time to follow our dreams, be a source of positive change for others, to do what our hearts are passionate about. I wish I learned this sooner…9 years sooner when I thought having a big house and all the excessive things in it. Back then, I thought that was my American Dream, as everyone keep telling me that a big house is an investment but all along, it’s the simple life and lifestyle that I was yearning to have. I admire you and all that embraced the Tiny Life, Tiny House, Tiny Living …you all actually to live big in so many ways because you choose to follow a different path. A path that I believe is the new American Dream…a better, more liberating, happier, more meaningful and enriching American Dream. You all are so blessed and more.
