Compact Loft Bed

I found this loft bed with an office below it. This certainly isn’t anything new, but what I really did like about it is that it incorporates steps and a little walkway behind it. One think I really don’t like about lofted/bunk beds is that they can be a bit awkward to get into. It certainly was fun to climb a ladder when I was 10, but now I just can’t get that into it. I would think that this is a much better way. The designers have also done a great job with the integration of storage into the stairs and with the different models (a desk and a closet).

Staircase Shelving

So I have been harping on a particular mantra of tiny space organization and design, that being: maximize the vertical.  If you are new here the basic jist is if you surrender a square foot of floor space for storage, maximize the use of that by taking the storage all the way to the top of the room.

One of the issues with this is of course if you have tall ceilings you can run into the issue of not being able to reach it.  With this innovative concept you are able to remedy this issue, cut out any need for a ladder and bring multifunction into the space.

Under Floor Bookcase

So this is a bit interesting, here is an apartment done by .27 Architects to have a bookcase inlaid into the floor.  From what I gather it doesn’t seem to have any cover, it simply stays exposed the whole time.  It got me thinking about what could you do with this concept, so a quick search revealed what others are doing.

Storage For Small Spaces

toomuchstuff

There are those things that we simply cannot part from, weather they are an absolute necessity or if they are one of those extra/splurge things that we really want, storing those in a Tiny House can be tough.  Here are a few ideas to handle all those items.

Rolling Shelf

Have you ever had one of those books that was some odd size and didn’t fit in your bookshelf?  It bothers me to no end, to have to turn the book so I can’t read the spine, but I found this awesome shelf that lets you be flexible with your shelving and fit those odd items.  This would work particularly well in a Tiny House, while most of our shelving is purpose built, because they are usually built-ins, there is sometimes when you have to store odd things, or things which you hadn’t anticipated.  This is where having flexible solutions to save the day.
