Tiny Space Cellars

I found this interesting cellar that was originally designed to store wine, but it occurred to me that it would be a great way to put your bulk storage in a very unobtrusive space.  Jay Schaffer talks about how ever person needs about 100 cubic feet of bulk storage for those things that you need, but don’t use often.  For me this bulk storage is going to be my backpacking equipment (one of those things you can’t go backpacking without it, but you don’t use it a whole lot) and tools I used to build the Tiny House.  The possibilities are really interesting when it comes to bulk storage, but one thing I really want to make sure is that these items are out of sight, that you don’t have them clutter your everyday space, a solution like this would be great!

  1. Beautiful idea…but would safe a huge amount of money and p.i.t.a. time if you did it square.

  2. if your tiny house is on wheels, a “cellar” type of storage is probably not possible 🙁

  3. It would also be a great storm shelter, too.

  4. We have a crawlspace with a wine rack, but it’s nothing like this! Whoa.

  5. That is a very cool idea, but I agree with Seculus. A square is a lot easier.

I always thought that when I build my tiny house, I would want to pair it with some very rural land. On that land I would want to put a fair distance away from the home a small 4×4 foot “generator shed” which would include a 4×8 foot covered wood storage, a good sized tool storage cabinet, an extra gas (methane, propane?) storage tank, a small generator converted for propane, and a similar space under the floor for actual cold storage.

  6. Oh wow – not only is this functional, but it looks SO cool! I love the idea, but I don’t know how much it would really cost to implement in my home. Hopefully not TOO much! :/
